  • Kerria japonica problem

    Hello everyone

I have a Kerria japonica that has not flowered for years and in recent weeks has now started throwing up bright yellow stems and leaves. It does have the regular green leaves as well. Does anyone know what would cause these yellow leaves. I've not been watering it as its a mature plant in the ground, but does it need a feed?

    Many thanks,
    Suz

It's just a random albino mutation. Plants do this occasionally, just in the same was as variegated plants sometimes send up all green shoots. It's nothing to worry about, and you can either keep it or cut it out as you please. Since it has no green it probably wouldn't survive as a separate plant, though.

      Hi

Thank you for letting me know. I'm glad it's not a deficiency or disease.

      All the best,
      Suz
