Honesty's the best policy Marb67. You're genuinely upset to have lost it so I'd take the opportunity to ask if they could give any advice as to what might have gone wrong or how they take care of theirs. Spring's a good time for dividing established plants so maybe they have a new bit they could spare?

With you having fleeced in the g/house & growing in a pot I'm wondering if it might be that the potting mix isn't free-draining enough? It could be easy to over-water them as they'd rather be too dry than too wet. Might be worth adding some grit into the compost?

Not a plant I've ever had. Had to look it up.
When did it go into the gh, it may have already been wet.
I add grit to all my terracotta pots compost and grit at the bottom but we get plenty rain.

It was a shop bought plant as the neighbours are not into gardening.
