  • Early spring bulbs

My Snowflakes are showing a couple of inches despite a deep mulch and some buckets of daffs are well over a foot in leaf.

    No sign of snowdrops yet.

    Are things early this year?

Everything is topsy-turvy here. We had a very odd spring with hot spells followed by cold spells repeatedly. Very hard for plants and insects. Lots of our spring-flowering flowers are currently in flower. Next to no insects about mind. Hope the plants manage to put on a display at the right time next year, otherwise it'll be a dire situation for all the pollinators.

So far for me, the only Spring bulbs doing anything are my grape hyacinths . The leaves are full height but no flowers showing as yet.

      Thats worrying info there Snoop.

Yes, Nicos, it is worrying. I don't feed the birds here on the grounds of trying not to upset the natural balance, but I've just been talking to Mr Snoop about it. There is no natural balance this year, so I will feed them just to try and help them through the winter and then we'll see.

Just the grape hyacinths for me as well Snoop.
Dont like the sound of that.

The run of the mill grape hyacinths are up but some more obscure ones I planted last year not up. Some small allium up, moly.
