I find the same, Babru. Plus, no matter where I stand the pots, or how high I raise them from the ground, I get tiger worms in them. I wish they would stay in the compost bins!

This was a thread about amaryllis, but has diverged into many interesting topics....

Speaking of tiger worms, I get them at the top of my hotbin. When we take material out to spread as a mulch etc, loads of worms come with it. I've always wondered if they can survive in the garden, or am I dooming them to a chilly death?

Am happy for the thread to flow laterally, but just coming back to the amaryllis again…yesterday I chopped off some of the withering flowers from a second flower stem, only to notice it had 6 flowers in the cluster and a small, potential flower bud. Wish I’d taken a photo!

I’m feeding them all now with Banana skin water to see if that also brings them on for next year

And here’s another one with 6 flowers!
I thought they only came with 3-4 …

                    ^^^ great news!

All mine have finished flowering and the ones I tried to bring on for Xmas are coming up blind so I’m going to follow advice on here to see if they’ll flower this coming winter!

My amaryllis has 4 flowers open now and another stem still in bud. That's just five weeks from starting it (on Boxing Day).

It's very photogenic, Nicos, it doesn't look half so pretty in real life, what shows up as white on the petals is really a sickly pale greeny colour. I had already decided to let it die after flowering until I saw the how well it looked in the photo.
