I pricked out some geums the other day. They have been in the seed tray since I sowed them in early April and still only have their first two proper leaves, so I thought maybe they needed more sustenance to encourage them to grow. I was surprised to find that every single tiny one had sent its roots across and along the seed tray as far as they could go. So each one had roots 6 - 8 inches long. It took me a while to untangle them all. Hopefully they'll start putting on more leaves and top growth now they each have a home of their own.
