  • Beneficial flowers for cutting

I have a bed approx 3mx1m in which I would like to grow flowers for cutting. I would also like them to be the kind of things which will help the veg garden too. My experience of flowers is rather limited to my geranium addiction!! (true not pelargonium).
Can anyone give me some suggestions?
    Tx

I grow my lotty flowers to be mostly beneficial, but these are also good for cutting:

    1) buddleja, different colour
    2) Jerusalem artichokes
    3) Calendula
    4) Scabious
    5) Hollyhock
    6) Foxglove (I know they're poisonous, but so is lettuce if you eat too much)
    7) Sunflowers

Anything with a simple flower ( daisy like) as that will attract more insects like

sunflowers ( you can get single flowered ones that are bushy rather than Russian Giant but plant some of these as well for the birds.

Delphiniums - they'll keep the slugs of your lettuce
Acrolinium, Statice - you can dry these for winter use and will attract insects

i wanted to grow tall flowers for cutting and managed a wonderful display of gladioli - but they looked too good in the garden so only ended up cutting them for the house once they started to die back and then they werent tall.....same with the sunflowers -didint want to pick them!
i always grow loads of marigolds (pot) and nasturtium which make pretty small displays in little bowls
cant grow lupins at all well...managed a few rudbeckia...michaelmas daisies grow of their own volition.....
