sweet peas in pots?

I was hoping to grow some sweetpeas as pressies for summer b-days. But these would have to be in pots.
If I sow into loo rolls can I plant them into pots? Or do they only rot away in the ground?
Could I sow them into 3 inch pots and then transplant into bigger ones?

i've never grown sweet peas in loo rolls. 2/3 in a small pot will be fine.

if you haven't already got the seeds, you could do dwarf ones.

I was given some pink and some multicoloured seed from a guy down at the lotties. Don't know what variety but the are long stemmed and scented. He grows them every year for picking and putting in vases.

He gave me loads more than I'm going to use.

i grew sweet peas in containers last year(started off in loo rolls) and had no problems at all.They did rot down a bit but as i'd buried the rim below the top of the compost,you wouldn't have known that they'd been started off in the rolls.
It was the first time i'd ever grown sweet peas and had an excellent display.i did site it next to a fence though so it could be tied into something when it got large.

I'm not surprised as they smell beautiful. I tried a variety called Heirloom last year and it was fantastic. Lots of blooms and perfume and it went on for months

I grow my sweet peas in loo rolls and plant them out as normal. I find the cardboard helps keep moisture around the roots. I've decided to forsake conventional bedding plants this summer and groe primarily patio sweet peas for tubs and baskets.
