wysteria??????

Is that how you spell it im not to sure?
Anyway, where i was working the other day i saw a wysteria that had been cut down, so i gathered up most of the pods from it, they look like dark furry runner beans!
Ok so the question is, how do i grow them? well, can i grow them from the beans?, have soaked a couple to give it a try.

Wisteria is the spelling.

I'd sow the seeds, what have you got to lose?

Put the seeds in a pot of compost and see what emerges, or soak the seeds on a paper towel to see if they germinate and then carefully plant them in compost.

It's known that seed grown wisteria can take years to flower (if at all), whereas the ones you buy are grafted. Not saying don't bother - you may come up with a fantastic new variety - only don't expect fabulous flowers for a while!

Ok, revise the advice. Just saw a TV prog on UKTV gardens that advises against growing Wisteria from seed as it takes years to grow and the flowers don't amount to much. The advice is too buy a plant which are all grafted on to a strong root stock.
