Was it a waste of money

Hi,
Went to local garden center today, they are normaly ridiculosly expensive, but today they had loads and loads of what I thought were bargains.

I picked up 5 Kg of Trumpet Dafodils, 6 packs of tulips, 2 packs of Hyacinths, 5 packs of crocus, all for £14, should have been loads more as most of the packs were priced at £4.99.

Now to my question,,,, They are supposed to be planted between september and december according to the packs, would I get anything from them if I planted them now ?,, TIA for any advice

Possibly not this year...we've done this [last year's bargains] and this year we've got loads coming up...pity we didn't actually label the but we'll remember what we put where soon enough.

Only in the ground - they will dry out if not.

Thanks for the replies,, hopefully it was not a complete waste then,, worse bit is every bulb has sprouted, daffs are all about 3" already.

if there sprouting them put them in the garden now

Might it be worth a short fridge stay?? Perhaps they would benefit like garlic from a quick fake winter??

We planted a load of bulbs toward the end of Jan last year, they flowered in May / June but very briefly and are now coming through OK for this year - mainly daffs and tulips.

Oh goodie,, some hope for them then!!, this is my first year ever with bulbs, normally used to buy the ready made containers and bin them when finished, , but now we have a bigger garden it is way too expensive to do that, also doing loads of flower seeds this year got to make use of the greenhouse

get em in the ground, they will either flower this year or next ..... i bought a load of 'bargain bulbs' forgot to plant them, found em in the cupboard a couple of years later all manky

Like others, i was tempted by these bargains last year. They all flowered, if a wee bit late, but were worth buying.
This year they may flower at the right time!

Plant them all out now. Some may still blossom if a bit late, but you'll have a lovely display next year. :0
