  • Can sweet peas climb up and around a brick wall/plant container?

I have some sweet peas sprouting at the moment, and was wandering around the garden looking for good places to plant them out when the time is right (rented accommodation, so don't want to rip anything out!). We have some stone steps with a brick wall on the side with a brick plant container on each end of the wall - lawn on the other side of the wall.

Does anyone know if sweet peas can cling to a brick wall? It's not that high, and it would have a chance to go 'over' the wall and onto the other side so all the weight won't be pulling it down, and the bricks have a fairly rough surface. I'm hesitant to attach anything to the wall for the sweet peas to climb up as it's not actually mine - but could dig some temporary posts into the lawn and attach some wire to that if need be.

    hi faerieprincess

sweet peas will need something for the tendrils to cling onto. maybe some chicken wire laid up the brick wall with canes threaded down through the wire to hold it upright. then push the canes into the ground

    hope this helps
