An Acers question

Hey all

If I take my small Acers, which have been bought over the years from places like B&Q, and plant them in the ground rather than a pot are they going to grow huge?

I don't have the labels for them so I'm not sure. In the shaded area near the new pond I was thinking of putting them there straight in the ground. However I'm not sure whether I'd be best leaving them in their pots or not (they do seem quite happy in pots year after year).

Gryfon, it depends on the variety how big they get but if they haven't grown big in the pots I don't see why they would grow huge in the ground. Pots or ground - it's up to you but I would plant them.

hmmmm my littlens in the past 7 years have grown to 5 ft high and are gorgeous, site them with care as they do not liked to be moved, consider a shady place too. If you say which varieties u have maybe can help?

That's the trouble I'm not sure what I have! Shall have a look online to see if I can identify them. They'll be near the south wall which is about 8' high and shades everything below it year round
