  • Snowdrops - In the green?!

    Morning Fellow Gardeners

Ive recieved som e snowdrops today (must tell you why first its sooo cute)
My son Luke, 5, has been learning about Growing Plants and veg at school (yes they do teach some real life things lol). He made me a Mothers Day Card and painted a Snowdrop on it. Being the soft little B###er he is lol, he said he wanted to grow me some, so could i buy some!!! AAAH. (dont know how im going to explain they wont be out till next year! AND they would come today when he's at my ex husbands!)
ANYWAY - I bought 50 off Ebay they are 'In the Green' apparently supposed to replant them that way?
I would like to pleant them around the base of my new Apple tree and in the front plot of my front garden, see pics.
Could you please advise me how to do this? Ie cutting stalks, feeding, watering etc?
Seeing as I am so new to this! Andy thought Id bought some spring onions lol!
Please ignore the dandelions and the grass that needs cutting lol Ive told you im just starting!
    Thanks all in advance x

If you can carefully separate them into smaller clumps - I'd aim for clumps of around 5 bulbs, but you may find that some of the bulbs are very small, so perhaps 5-10? Prepare the ground by digging it over, digging in some manure or compost and a sprinkle of blood, fish & bone if you have any. The white bits of the stems have been underground, so you need to aim to replant them at the same level (as a rough guide, the depth will be about 3 times the height of the bulb, if that makes sense!). So prepare the patch of ground for each clump, place each bulb a couple of inches apart and plant them individually. Water them in well. Don't trim or remove any leaves, as they are taking in energy for the bulb - let them die down naturally. They'll look a bit messy at the moment, but that's 'normal'

Yeah, well I asked for some bags of manure for my 30th birthday two years ago... It's moments like that you realise you've tipped right over the edge
