Taking cuttings

I did try to search to see if this is listed anywhere but could not find.

I am keen to try to take cuttings from flower perenials and shrubs. I was hoping to find a month by month guide of the best times and techniques for different plants and flowers. Either in book form that I could purchase or if there is a good website with this information.

I have tried snipping bits of plants and shrubs and useing rooting powder but this has been a hit and miss exercise where some have taken successfully and others not so.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just go to Google and type in "propagate fuchsia" or "propagate delphinium"

or even "how to take cuttings of .... "

As for books, I have an old (£2 from charity shop) Readers Digest Encyclopedia of Plants. It's about 3" thick and has growing and propagation advice for most things.

I think WH Smith recently had the RHS version for £6.

Than for that, have added to list of favourite sites it looks very good.

Thanks for the link,maybe I will try (again) with lavender and rosemary-I had a really bad luck with both so far which is shame because I really like them.

How much success do you have with that?

It seems to work ok, it depends on the weather as I leave them outside to root, so this time of year they take quite easy
