  • Too early for bedding/basket plants?

Is it too early to put out hanging baskets?

I've a few perrenials growing (foxgloves/red hot pokers I think), but am I being a little impatient?

too early for me HW next 15days supposed to be sunny & warm but there are quite a few nights when its gonna be hovering around ground frost temps. Unless you can put them out and bring them in at night I wouldnt risk it yet. Of course i'm 'up north' from you

This year I'm sticking with the advice of the locals, St Glace is 15 May and nothing (except spuds, broadies and onions) get planted out before that. All the local plant fairs are on over the next few weekends and people are buying them in but not planting them out yet.

And I'm 600 miles further south that the majority of people in here

I wouldn't put them out yet Wayne.
One night of frost and they're gone.
When is your last frost date. End of May for me - but you might be a little earlier.

I have no idea. Where would I find that out?

Planted out sweet peas last night - will they be alright? I thought being of the pea family they'd be pretty hardy.

I've got the May Bank Holiday week off, so hopefully an ideal time...

I dont put my baskets out till 2nd week in June but we are still getting morning frost.

All my salad baskets are growing nice.

i've always waited till middle may you just never know, put things out during day but bring them in at night if frost looks likely always been my motto. Problem is bedding plants are sold now and some people stick them out thinking it's ok.
