Looks like it could be Phlomis russeliana
or maybe some type of deadnettle?

Look up Woundwort in Google Images.
It's a stachys and looks rather like that. It could also be a foxglove. I find it very hard to tell from even a good photo!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Hello and thank you, everyone. I'm going to look up the plants you suggest.
I'll come back to you when it flowers - which will probably help more than a photo of the leaves.

Thanks, everyone. I have had honesty in the garden in the past, so can't wait to see what the flowers are like. Going out now to see if they've progressed.

Here is a close-up of the whorls on the flower spike.
I found this site while searching for images - it might interest you.

Betony has a different leaf. We have it in our little 'meadow'. Stachys looks about right though. Still looks like woundwort to me.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
