I always wanted to have lavender-decided to go for Hidcote.I don't know why but most of the plant suppliers seem to prefer Munstead to Hidcote.I tried to grow it from seed couple of years ago-seeds have germinated, grew a bit and then died.I was given a few cuttings but never managed to root them.Anyway,I got some Hidcote plug plants from ebay-plants propagated from cuttings. What I'd like to know is what's the difference between Hidcote and Munstead-I've done quite a lot of research on both and they seem to be similar.
Any suggestions as how to grow it are welcome.I know they prefer sandy soil(that's what I have here). My mistake with cuttings was I put it into ordinary compost.I also know I should give it a trim after flowering (to keep it compact and bushy)and avoid cutting into old wood.
I'll have to put them into pots first so should I mix compost with some sharp sand or use the soil from the garden?
