Have small garden with little space. Wanting to plant floribunda bush rose called 'Olive' near to fruit trees to attract bees, wild-life for pollination. Found that this rose is no longer available. Does anyone know where I can get one or any info about it?

Hi Scotti
Welcome to the vine. This is the best place to look
http://www.rosesuk.com/
They list just about every rose going. I did a quick search & found nothing so I wonder if you have the right name. I'm not sure where you could look after that.

Hi Nick, Thanks for info. Have tried site you quoted, like you got nothing. Have seen rose in Botanica's Roses, pp438. Won Geneva Prize? 1978 and quoted as Harkness 1982. Have phoned them, but only got reply of "No we do not have on books". Thanks again. Scotti

Hi Scotti,
Don't suppose this is much use to you as it is an American site but at least it proves the rose does exist & is available in the U.S. from Heaven Scent Roses in North Carolina & Wisconsin Roses!www.helpmefind.com/Roses/pl.php?n=4554Into every life a little rain must fall.

Hi SueA, Thought I'd keep you informed. Looked into web site and found that they did grow this rose at a National Trust centre in Staffordshire. Contacted the gardener who explained that the rose bed had to be taken out because of certain viruses. As he was not there when the original action took place and the person who was there contact has been withdrawn, there is no hope of finding this rose in the UK. As stated in the original survey, there are still some places in the USA that sell this rose, but I'm not going to fly out there just for this. Again, thanks for help.

Sorry to hear that Scotti, if it was just the name 'Olive' you were interested in & not that particular rose the U.S. website did list some other roses with 'Olive' in their name - like 'Mrs Olive....' sort of thing, so maybe you would be able to get hold of one of those, but possibly they are only available in the U.S. too. You could see if they do mail order but that might work out expensive & not sure if you can import roses from there!Into every life a little rain must fall.
