What are these? My wife want to dig them up!

They look like crocosmia. There are a few varieties so you may need to wait to see which one it is. I hope your wife keeps them. I just love them!

I agree...Crocosmia, formally known as Montbresia! Lucifer is a particularily common and beautiful strain!

I have about 6 feet of border filled with crocosmia and they are the most amazing fire-orange colour.

Plant and forget, my kind of gardening.

Definitely crocosmia. I love these, they remind me of my gran's garden and I've never had any luck growing them myself, even though I pinch corms from anyone who'll part with a few so make the attempt at least once a year.

If you decide to dig them up why not pot them up, maybe give them to charity shops to sell , just a thought.

I love them..they are on my shopping list for next week!!!!

Yup they do invade slowly- but are fantastic at the back of a dry border- both the red and orange varieties.
PLEASE don't just chuck them away if you dig them up..Topcat's idea is brill- or offer some to your neighbours- they may swap for something you like in their garden- and at least you'll know their plant will enjoy your garden.

Our first garden we ever had was made up from bits taken from both sets of in-laws ,friends and neighbours gardens- hardly bought anything- and it was looking fantastic by the time we sold the house 5 yrs later.

Crocosmia is a beautiful flower,I always associate it with hydrangea(August flowering).It takes quite a big space though.

That's a bit cruel, montbretia/crocosmia is about the worst thug you could wish on your worst enemy.
