  • A wild flower question

I know this probably isn't the right place for this , as this thread is for posh proper flowers . But I have a lovely wild flower that I grew from seed from my daughters garden . It is about 3 ft high and has long straight stems , each stem has lots of very thin pointed leaves all the way up it ,Near the top there are little flower heads coming out from where the leaves join the stem , but they are small and green , I would think to flower after the main flower . Then at the top there is a pointed flower head of purple little flowers a bit like lilac in shape but only 4 inches long . Can anyone tell me what they think it is . I have looked in my wild flower book and my RHS plants and flowers book , wish I hadn't looked there as I now want more plants , I can't find anything that looks like it . I can't put a pic on here as I don't know how .

It has two chances , up or down.

Hedge woundwort? Purple toadflax? Southern marsh orchid? Early purple orchid? Wild clary? Purple loosestrife?

Does sound like a loosestrife from the description.

Well thanks to your ideas I was able to google all those . The nearest was purple toadflax. I am going to have another one out soon , same tall stems but with a small amount of pink flowers at the top . It's not in flower yet so when it is and I can get a better look I will ask again . Thank you all for your help .
