I have no idea about climbing plants (or non-edible's really!) so thought I would ask you helpful grapes for your advice!
We're currently de-glazing the old greenhouse, and taking the roof off; leaving a very basic wooden structure, almost like a pergola. The greenhouse has our grapevine in it, which is years and years old and can't be moved.
We've thought of turning the area into a sort of seating area, gravelling the inside of it, putting a little chimnea (sp?) in it, and keeping the grapevine.
I had the thought of covering the (rather rotten, unsightly) wood with some climbing plants, but have no idea where to start!
We need plants that will get to between 5-6ft high, happy to be in partial shade or bright sunshine. Don't really want anything tender, would have to be outside all the time. Needs to be able to climb well, with minimal support (though I'm happy to put some wire up in the first instance), have nice flowers etc, but more of all - won't smother or disturb the grapevine!!
Anyone got any ideas??
Thanks
OWG
