  • Honeysuckle - grey mould!

    Hi

I have greyish mould growing on two varieties of Honeysuckle. The space between the two plants is about 25foot. The mould appears in patches on the leaves and stems. The leaves have started turning yellow and falling of leaving horrible bare patches.

Does anybody have any advise or help they could offer me? All other plants (mixtures of veggies, shrubs, various flowers etc) that appear inbetween both infected plants are all healthy - its just effecting the honeysuckle.

    Many thanks
    Daniel

    Might it be.....

......powdery mildew or a fungal infection? You can get ready made sprays for this.

    Or it might be

      Thanks for replying Jules

I dont think it could be the leaf blight as that article says the stems are not affected - mine are. It sounds and looks more like the powdery mildew you suggested. I guess i'd best get down to my local garden centre!

      Thanks

I had a honeysuckle that would get this year after year,2 years ago moved house planted new ones last year, a new one this year, this years one has now got it . Mine are on a north facing fence , but the one that is affected gets more sun and the soil is quite dry in this area due to garage foundations , i found this article very interesting. Will be adding a mulch to see if it helps.

Interesting article - thanks. I will also try the mulch thing to see if it helps.

Since posting my question I purchased a spray from my local garden centre and it does appear to have reduced any further mould growth, but i will need to repeat treatment next weekend and then i should have a better idea whether it is working or not.
