  • When to mulch?

I want to put some manure on my flower beds, when is the best time to do it? Early winter or in the spring Just want to help improve my soil more then anything

Both! I don't think there's a 'wrong' time to do it - though in dry weather I'd water before adding the mulch, to help keep moisture in.

      What flowers?
You shouldn't feed most annuals, they don't need it, and many prefer a poor soil. If soil is too rich, you will get too much leaf growth at the expense of flowers.

If you have a rose bed, or other perennials, then do use manure. As with any mulch, apply it to wet soil, so it traps the moisture in.

My soil dries out really quick in the summer and even cracks abit, but not loads. So I'm just looking to improve it. Might do it early winter so the worms can drag it down etc

        Thanks
