Planting out Nasturiums

I have about 10 Nasturtium plants grown from seed currently living in vending cups. My intention is to plant them out in front of the foxgloves and big daisies.

However, a few of them are now flowering - should I move them whilst flowering?

Won't do them any harm. I usually plant them out when they've got a couple of true leaves. They're tough old things!

Thanks Ma. It was only once I'd posted that I realised I'd asked a pretty daft question - most flowers bought from garden centres are starting to flower when you buy them!

Now that they've started flowering they'll prob continue non stop- so the sooner the better - are they hardened off?

They've been outside now for a few weeks - along with the carnations and marigolds.

A grape also kindly donated some spare plants they had too - I think I'm going to have to widen/deepen the bed to get them all in.

Ahem! I (without checking the packet!) grew some climbing nasturtiums by mistake last year. I edged my bean bed with them. Looked gorgeous - then they ran up the borlotti bean canes. It was like the jungle! Very colourful but totally overgrown!

I got my seeds mixed up last year- and the darned nasturtiums were all over the paths..far too pretty to pull up- and I've gone and mixed them up again this year

WOW - I didn't know you could get climbers - they sound great.

Our first lottie poppy came out yesterday - deep red and beautiful.

If they are grown with runner beans do they make good decoys for the blackfly?

Hmm, I've not had much luck with decoys, they just seem to attract even more!

I didn't get any blackfly on either last year. I think they drowned in the rain!

What's so bad about the climbing ones? I've got some and it says they only get 6ft on the pack

I sowed some this year for the first time, they are doing great the leaves are the size of dinner plates lol. I was hoping they would take the blackfly away from the mock orange as it gets covered in them but so far I have blackfly on both. So I have resorted to bug spray.
