Here are some of the Evening Primrose flowers from the seed Hazel sent last year from her brother's garden. As a biennial, they grew rosettes of leaves last year and were planted out into their growing places in autumn. This year they've shot up and are now magnificent 3ft specimens and full of flower buds. If I'd got meself organised I'd have sown some more this spring - there were plenty in the packet - and made sure I have them every year as I'll let them self seed. I have 2 patches of them in the front garden and they came into flower yesterday - they are magnificent! Ta chuck!

Anyone else got any Hazel flowers?

I took some evening primrose seeds from the seed swap ( don't know if they were Hazels), which have grown into lovely rosettes as you say Flum, hopefully I'll have a nice display like that next year.

I had Evening Primrose in a previous garden, lovely to watch them open at night.

BTW Flum, your Swiss Chard Bright Lights seem to be doing OK.

So many of the varieties I have at the Hill are from seed swaps, and so aquire another name (Sarz gladstone pea, PW hative de niorte shallot, Birdywife sutherland kale, Seahorse waltham calabrese, Flum achocha amongst many others) - it definitely adds an extra dimension to the plot!

Thank you for reminding me how lovely the Evening Primrose are Flummery.
I had a packet of seeds for them I had been meaning to plant so I got on and planted them yesterday. Look forward to enjoying them next year.

And yes I know what you mean about seeds from other people.
