Bottlebrush plant- frost damage?

Back in februsry i left the bottlebrush out in the realy cold weather, idnt cover it either.....well they called it a hardy bottle brush!

It looked fine after the very cold frost/ice till march or so when the leaves turned brown at the ends



Its still flowering fine, growing fine, its new growth looks great



Its just the older growth that was there thats brown end of leaves the new leaves are better than last years, Is this frost damage on the old leaves?, or just what the old leaves do? ,lack of nutrients?, i guess its the frost, just womdering if everyone else agrees, or if anyone elses bottlebrush has looked like this with frost?

Mine of out all winter and I have no problems with the leaves.

It's when we get heavy rain fall that it strips the red flowering part of the plant.

Did you give it a liquid feed in March?

I gave it some growmore and toprose solid fertiliser chucked in the pot round the end of february, as it was there as i walked past.....last year i used miracle grow and citrus fertiliser every now and then, ive been watering it with miracle every now and then this year since it got warm,
i repotted it yesterday from 20L into a 100L pot yesteday incase it was anything in the soil, the soil it was in was 30/30/30 horticultural sand/perlite/compost it grew well in it last year but the pot was solid with oots, not circling, just about to, i smashed the pot off it to get it out to repot it , this time i used tescos compost with 10% gravel in it (tescos compost was reduced to 20l bag for 65p last week)

It looked fine back in the ice, but one night it did freeze solid , the leaves were rigid it was about -15 C , but afterwards the new growth started and the old leaves till looked fine, then started going crunchy and brown gradualy working there way inwards till they were like they are now, then they havent got any worse for about a month though and the new stiuff looks fine

The red bits can be a pain in the rain... cant they!, last year the bits went everywere , im just going to see if i can get any seeds from the pods from last year , i didnt realise they stayed on the plant so long

-15 C is very cold and could do it.

To me it looks like fertiliser burn.

I did wonder about fertiliser burn or salt build up in the soil, but wouldnt it show on the new growth as well?
