I have got a peacock orchid - currently just a few long leaves. Can I plant it outside? and does it prefer sun or shade?

    many thanks.

I think it's sold as a garden plant so I'd say you could.

It rather depends on what it really is.
Peacock orchid is sometimes a name given to pleione orchids. They are difficult to grow anywhere but in a pot, and not that easy there, even though many are hardy.
It is also a name given to one or more species of gladiolus. As with most cultivars of gladiolus, they are hardy only if in a warm and dry spot for the winter.

My gladies stay in all the time - as you say it depends on conditions.
