Its Saliva Patens, very popular with bees, its also classed as a wildflower.

I will have to mollycoddle it a bit then - it's a very intense shade of blue and will be great if it gets a bit bigger - it's a bit lost among larger plants at the moment, but I daren't risk moving it. I grew Salvia Patens 'Cambridge Blue' (I think it's called) from seed a few years ago but they didn't make it through the winter. Ta for the ID

It looks like sage that my nan used to have all over the place. It self seeded everywhere and was treated like a weed mostly and yanked out ... unless we were having a chicken roast
