Please could someone tell me when to prune my lilac bush and how far back it needs to be pruned?

Thanks Two Sheds - I very nearly pruned it back this weekend as it had stopped flowering.

Depends whether you want to keep it to the same size as it is now, or whether you want it to grow bigger. How big is it now? Mine stopped flowering ages ago - I can't believe you've still been getting flowers
