first daffodil!!!

i was looking out on the garden this morning, as you do, and what did i see but a bright yellow face looking back at me!! theres another one about to flower as well!! ive only been gardening for a couple of years but thats only growing veg, is that rediculosly (sp?) early for a daff? i bought a pack of papaerwhites from the supermarket and those were up within 3 weeks from planting (indoors obviously). maybe theres something in the air...

My parents in law usually have the first open daffs round me and there is usually one about to open by my birthday at the end of this month. However, this year, they don't even have shoots through (could be due to me rearranging their garden borders last year)

Was quite surprised to see bunches of daffs for sale at the local farmers market last Friday. Think they are pretty early

theres loads out at a flower shop down the road but has been for months so i expect they are forced. nature really is very weird at the moment. ive got a primula in flower as well and broccoli which ive had for the last 2 months.

Hi Leona, we've got lots of green leaves on the daffs but no flowers as yet. I've even got tulips coming up in some pots I left at the back of the garden last year & odd ones in the ground. No flowers though except the odd primula, pansy,viburnum & fuchsia.

Green leaves just poking up now but no daffs, had a crocus that succumbed to frost but do love it - everything is waking up!

So far I have one snowdrop blooming and two roses have flowered and some of my other bulbs are poking up about an inch. Don't know what ones though cos i planted them fairly randomly and can't rememeber whats where.

On our local TV prog tonight someone sent in a photo of their clematis in bloom on Christmas Day It looked Like a Nelly Moser !!

I also have my dafs poking up! Also got anterhinims (sp?) which must have seeded themselves in the summer and they are in flower!

Just noticed a single self-seeded antirrhinum in my garden too, a tatty snowdrop & what may be either more snowdrops or maybe crocuses coming out.

we have a rose that has been flowering for the last 2 months. most of the petals have come off in the wind of the last couple of days but still. there is also a bush type rose in the garden that hasnt stopped flowering since early summer. ive got bulbs up everywhere, many over 5-6 inches tall. some hyacynths have come up too. its mad! i want a winter! i want a frost!

We have Snowdrops, crocus and a solitary marigold in flower

We have snowdrops, hellebores and primulas/primroses in flower but the Daffs are only forming shoots no more than 5 inches high.
Your Daff is the first to bloom that I know of.
