    hi
    i was given cuttings of a bio mass willow I was told it can grow up to 9 feet a year. could i use it to make a willow arch or dome etc, or could I let it grow into trees

    Yes, willow makes a lovely arch or a dome if you know how to weave it. Willow grows very easily - just stick it in the ground and it roots.

      Just a word of warning. Willow arches, domes ect take a lot of maintance or they will just become a mess. The cuttings are a promlem to get rid of, they take ages to compost and don't shred well. They have to be very dry and dead before you can use the sticks for plant supports or they will grow. I have a dome which needs cutting at least 4 times during the growing season and then hard pruning in the autumn. The large trees/bushes I pollard every year and, yes, it will grow about 9 feet in a year.

      You could learn basketry!!!!!!!! Best of luck.
