  • Amaryllis - AAAAaaarrrgh!

I am sure other grapes have suffered this very very annoying
experience. I bought a couple of Amaryllis bulbs in the belief
    that they were "Papillio".
Well, guess what! One looks like "Appleblossom" and the other
    just plain red.
I have had this problem before with tulips. Dirty great big
bright yellow Apeldoorn instead of dainty green/white parrot tulips.

Its finally put me right off buying any more tulips or amaryllis for
    that matter.

What can we conned buyers do about this?

All my white hyacinths have come out mauve. My (2) amaryllis haven't bloomed yet.

I love Lidl`s but my double purple clematis turned out to be a single pink & my red datura ended up whjte( I already have 2 white ones). they were planted in the garden so I couldn`t take them back but when my potted camellia from Wilkinsons turned out to be completely different from the hanging picture attached to my plant I did get my money back.

My 2 red amaryllis from M&S at Xmas turned out pink....flipping useless colour for Xmas and Valentines day when you actually want red!

I'm going to start saving the packaging, I really am

I'm fed up with getting pink or purple plants instead of the blue or white that I've ordered. Or red: all the blue anemone de caen that I bought have turned out scarlet

I've had the same. My double fuschia pink tuplis are single red ones and the apricot ones were pale pink.

We planted 250 mixed crocus bulbs 6 different colours and got 80% purple, a few light purple and a handful yellow.. none of the blue/orange etc. on the pic. The mini daffs are taller than the normal ones too. Trouble is if you buy things not in flower it's usually so long til they do it's too late to go back
