Hi guys,
First time in this part of the vine - I'm mostly a veg grower with a few flowers dotted about for good measure .
I bought a clematis from Wilkinsons the other day, hoping to train it to grow up the 2 tonne engine hoist we inherited with our garden when we bought our house 8 years ago. It's been dragged about the back of the garden a few times over the years but is far to heavy and cumbersome to ever consider removing it for good - it would have to be an angle grinder job to achieve that . Finally, last year we painted it with black hammerite and grew climbing beans up it.
This year, I thought we'd try a different approach (because we had a bit of a glut of beans last year ) and thought a lovely clematis would serve to hide the hoist, add a bit of colour to the end of the garden AND would keep the bees and butterflies happy.
Anyway, Wilkos were selling these clematis off for half price so I bought one, thinking I'd look it up in the BHS Encyclopedia for type etc but it isn't listed AND I've googled it and I still can't find it.
Soooooooooooo I thought, I know where I can go to ask . According to the label it's Clematis Dematis (red flowering). Anyone know this variety and could you please point me in the right direction for care instructions?
Many thanks
