I started my sweet peas at beginning of March in root trainers and they are doing well. Uncle sowed his seeds in the ground with cloche cover last week. No doubt his will flower sooner and better than mine, like they always do!Elsie

Piskie what a cracking tip about germinating in soil in the airing cupboard! Boy was that fast! I posted that I had put them in there at approximately noon today. It is now nearly 11 hours later and I have just checked them - little roots already!!!
Top tip!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I usually love growing my own sweet peas as there is such a great choice of varieties but last year I ran out of time so I bought a pot of seedlings from our local GC at 99p for thirtyThey were amazing - we got darks, pales, pinkies, whites, stripey pinks and stripey dark reds all smelling gorgeous. It was a real bargain and saved me loads of time and space.
So this year I have done the same again although at 99p for 12 seedlings it seems like daylight robbery compared to last year
I've gone for a 'Sweet Peas for Cutting' but there were loads - Cottage Garden Sweet Peas, Pale Sweet Peas, Dark Sweet Peas...etc...etc...I try to sow most things but I'm a sweet pea seedling convert nowRtB x

I have some seeds that I picked up for free somewhere. I've never grown them before. After soaking them, should I sow them direct or in modules. A assume they need something to climb up. Will they climb up a fence or should I erect some bamboo canes?
