Nows the time to cut back all those whippy growths from last year that you hopefully cut back to about 4-5 buds last autumn, to 2 buds to ensure a cracking display of flowers.

Phew! That's okay then - thought I had better go plant one quick!

Hopingto plant a climbing rose to grow up the front of my house this year. I bought a Zepherin Drouhaine (excuse the spelling) last year and now I just need a big big planter for it. Wouldn't see a wisteria as the house is painted that colour!

It is also the time to cut back Viticella and texensis type Clematis to about a foot above the ground. They flower later in the year on growth produced this season.
