I quite fancy growing chrysanthemums, but haven't a clue on whether I can grow them in the flower buckets I use for tomatoes. I think I remember Snadger saying he grows them following on from his toms, but I wonder if this is in a greenhouse? I have looked around for plants and they are quite expensive, but I think I may be too late to sow seed now. The seeds aren't cheap either. Anyone got any advice please?

I don't see why not, they grow them in much smaller pots as houseplants. I grew some from seed this year and was quite impressed with how strongly they grew - it might be a bit late to start this year though as mine have buds and look like they are going to flower soon. You can also grow them from cuttings so if you get one plant you can make extras - that might save you some money or if you know anyone with some you can pinch a cutting off.

Just caught up with this thread.
I will be growing my greenhouse chrysanths which will go into the greenhouse after the toms in Morrisons flower buckets.
They will stay outdoors during the summer and be tied to a little fence made with a couple of posts knocked in to the ground with a wire stretched between.
I usually add three canes to each pot to help support the blooms.
There's no reason why summer/autumn flowering outdoor types can't be treat the same though, and flower outdoors in pots.
I will grow my summer/autumn types in the allotment soil though as keeping loads of potted plants watered throughout the summer can be a bit of a pain!
I'm hoping to have a few greenhouse plants in bloom at Christmas! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
