does anyone have any usefull tips on growing christmas trees from seed

I believe that they are very difficult to germinate and need to be given a false winter in many cases. I know they grow them for hire at The Little Tree Company and tend to just buy them in small and grow them on for this reason.

I think you need to start several years before you intend to hang baubles on them! They are quite slow growers as well as slow to germnate.

          Waste of time.

Buy a small real tree in a pot, and plant it outside each year (keep it in a pot though, or it'll smother your house)

Chill first then plant I believe.

I use real ones in pots each year 3 trees 2 in each year and rotate a rest year. Fleece them when they go out at new year. They grow quite quicly I think mine were bought as Christmas eve get rid of cheap buys when everyone else had bought their (so had I but the plan was for the next year) I use builders rhino type buckets with holes drilled in because they have reds & greens & the handles make then easy to move, but I'm trying from seed too
