Found these while on holiday in Cyprus. First one is about 14" across the leaves with lots of short-stemmed flowers in the centre. It grows in the same form as a primrose but is much bigger and has more flowers. The other is just as it looks, about 4" high. (It isn't a crocus!)

Does look awfully like an African violet, Bramble, thought you might have got it, but thanks to Sillhouette2 and his/her photo on Flickr I've found out that it is an Autumn Mandrake (Mandragora autumnalis). It's a member of the nightshade family. The photo is Sillouhette2's, so similar to mine but shows flowers open.Attached Files
