  • Rhododendron problem

I have attached a few pictures of leaves on a rhododendron and was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before. The tips of the leaves have become distorted and narrower than the base of leaves. It is not on all of the leaves but on quite a few of them.

Pics available here Flickr: jamesk3485's Photostream

    Thanks

They look, to me, like they've been eaten by something.

      Caterpillars.

I would also check the ph of the soil and look for weevils.

Don't think it is weevils as there is no telltale c shaped notch out of the edge of the leaves.

The tips of the leaves are also curled at the tips

hi jas. is the rhodo one of the large ones like beananum or sino grande? I would think it suffered from extreme heat. the edges got damaged and unfurled to develope like that. i don't think it is insect damage. not much attacks them and weevil take horse shoe shaped chomps out of them. It looks real glossy.
