In the Spring I bought one of those decorative pots with flowering hyacinths in them. After the plants died, I left the pot with the bulbs in it intending to plant the bulbs on my allotment this Fall. The other day I noticed green shoots coming out of the bulbs. Are they starting to regrow now? Does this mean I can't plant them out?

growing tips when you cover them up. I am regularly guilty of forgetting to plant bulbs. Well, even when the hyacinth bulbs have been all shrivelled for me, they have some how miraculously recovered and made an appearance the next spring. I reckon bulbs are tougher than we sometimes think.
So, always worth a try.

Always worth a try, but the ones in pots tend to be treated for forcing - so you may find they produce multiple small flower stems rather than the single stem. My garden is full of clumps of these now - bit like straggly bluebells.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
