nasturtium seeds

Can I collect the seeds that my nasturtiums are throwing all over the ground to use next year? I can't see why not, but please correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, you certainly can. I put all mine back in the ground as I love nasturtium leaves and flowers in salads. I think you can also use them (the seeds) as capers - never tried though.

i just leave them and they pop up every year

If you catchthe seeds very young when still tender and green - they're know as poor man's capers - never pickled or tried them myself - but I guess the clue in taste lies in its name.

By all means save and sow next year.

Thanks, I'll be gathering a few to use next year and leaving the rest to get on with it on their own.

Regarding using them as capers, I've also read that and this past July I tried a green one just to see. I'm not sure what they taste like after they've been "capered," but it was one of the most awful things I've ever eaten. So I didn't bother gathering them and pickling them to make capers.
