Aint got no money.............spotted one that I like which has overhanging branches which need 'pruning'! Are they hard to propagate from cuttings?

Hi Snadge
They must be about the easiest to propagate. Prune this years growth, cut just below a leaf joint trim off bottom 8" of leaves trim cane to about 1' 6" place 8" depth in pot of 50% sand 50% compost leave in the garden or lottie and next year WILLOWS! (put about 6 canes per 2 litre pot )
Even if you saw logs of willow and place them end on in the ground they will root.
Willow hedges are made from prunings taken in March, looped into circles and both ends stuck in the ground loop as many as required to fill the space and within 6 weeks they will start sprouting.

I was going to say the same... don't plant near your house. We are dealing with a very expensive subsidence problem right now which we could well do without. They are one of the worst trees for sucking moisture from the ground.
