Went to Wilko's where they had Bishops Children on bogof so got pompoms for free!
Sowed them all last night, determined to bring a splash of colour to lottie this year!

Oh dear - look what i've started!

Incidentally - got sidetracked by watching the rugby at the pub on Sunday so the dahlias are still on the windowsill - oops! However, i did manage to sort the greenhouse out and wash the pots i used for the proteas so i can pot the dahlias on - roll on Saturday!
There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted
        Happy Gardening!

I didnt realise how well they would germinate either Protea and have a tray of 30 in the greenhouse. Personally I am quite glad as they will be used for the cutting garden area of the lottie, lots of brownie points there.

I'm in the same position but rather glad as I have agreed to provide plants for the eldest son's school's summer fete. Hoping some will still be okay by June.

You can never accrue too many brownie points eh Snadger, you can trade them in for minor misdameaners.

What sort of conditions did you guys give the 'Bishop's' seeds? The ones in the heated propagator sown singlely in little modules haven't done too well, 3 from 12?

How long have they been in SBP as they can be erratic. I sowed some ages ago had 12 through within 2 weeks then nothing and now some more are coming through!

Maybe a couple of weeks Nick, I'll hope they're erratic then! Although three more would be enough atm.

Funny you should mention that! I sowed some at the allotment meaning to fetch them home and put them in the heated propagator! Of course I forgot didn't I? and I just left them in a little polytunnel within the greenhouse with a paraffin cold frame heater in it! Temperature hovers around the 55 deg Fahrenheit but I seem to have had a good percentage germinate.

Could it be the propagator is too warm for them???

I did wonder Snadger I think I'll take them out tomorrow - put them on the windowsill, the house is kept at a reasonable temp all the time.

They come from Mexico originally so I would have thought they would be OK. my bench sits at around 20c but they are cooler round the tops of course

The house temp is around 20c (so out they come), but the prop I don't know maybe I'll put a thermometer in and check it....

Mine germinated fine on a sunny windowsill, the overnight temp was around 15 degrees, daytime - who knows - but its really sunny.

I think nearly all of them germinated. my greenhouse is now full - to capacity. Its a nightmare!
