  • Flowers To Help Out On An Allotment?

I know absolutely nothing about growing flowers but as Im here lazing on the sofa, Im wondering what flowers I could grow alongside my veggies over on the allotment. Ive just spent the afternoon volunteering for the village in bloom and have been planting pansies

Ive been given some sunflower, marigolds and sweetpeas but are there any other beneficial ones I could try too? Or ones to deter pests? Or are there any I should stay away from?

My OH said I should grow stiped flowers as its a known fact bees love these. Ive never heard this one before!

Apple Tree: Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?
Scarecrow: Oh, no. It's just that she doesn't like little green worms!

    Stiped ?

I grow flowers around my lottie , annuals round the edges of the beds and I have some perennials planted down the sides (when the wabbits don't eat them ) I try and look for things that attract bees and hoverflies.

Bees like flowers that they can get into rather then doubles that have too many petals and not an open centre. I'm not sure whether they are bothered about stripes or not ....
