I'd like to know if you can feed trees. If you can what do you feed them with and is this the correct time of year to do so. I have a mixture of young fruit, non fruit & evergreens.
I mulch most of my fruit trees with well rotted chicken manure. However, the damson
has to cope - it's in the chicken's free ranging area and tends to get a bit scrabbled at the roots. It's managing fine. At this stage I think its roots go a lot farther than I suspect.
I did wonder because some of the evergreens have a yellow tinge to the ends of leaves and I thought they were missing something. As you probably know its heavey clay around here; shall I go with the fish blood & bone [sounds lovely uuuuk!] if so how do i apply it?
I used Sulphate of Potash on my fruit trees last year but unfortunately they were attacked by both aphids and ants. So I shall give them a dose again this year (sprinkled around the base) and see if it helps with fruit production.
