  • Climbing/Rambling Rose cutting advice

My neighbour took some cuttings from another neighbour's climbing/rambling rose, variety unknown.

He gave me one of these which has now grown into a 3ft high plant.

I still have it in a pot and have noticed it has a few random shoots coming up from beneath the soil level.

I want to plant it in the ground, but should I remove these straggley shoots?
I am assuming that they are the original rose, not the pretty variety he took the cutting from. This cutting was not grafted.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
