Can someone please help me out here, I've never grown sweetpeas before and was just wondering if you are supposed to soak the peas before sowing them, its just that i sowed a batch straight into a 32 module tray and only 3 of these appear to have germinated . Any ideas or info would be much appreciated.

I usually soak them, I just find it makes the germination process a bit faster. Some people put a little nick in the hard casing, but I've not done that for years (till I got old enough to make my own rules!) Mine still took 3 weeks to come through. Give them time, I'm sure you'll get more coming. Good luck with them.

I soak mine, but then I soak & chit my sweetcorn, peas & beans too (it's just my thing)

If you chit them you can see straight away which ones are goers and don't need to bother wasting time & compost on the wrong uns

I wouldn't worry Chris. We planted 60 unsoaked seeds c.2weeks ago and virtually all have sprouted.

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago when I wanted to start sweat peas as many people have many different methods and all are "guaranteed" to work and it all got a bit confusing. In the end I just bought quality seed and put them in compost and I get about a 90% success rate.
