  • Keeping Semi-grown Plants?

I planted some daffodil and tulip bulbs probably a bit too late. That and this gorgeous weather we've been having has meant they've missed their season and haven't had time to fully develop: they produced 2-3" shoots, stopped and are now starting to decline.

Will they be OK to keep 'till next year?

Should be, yes, although flowering may be reduced next year. They will recover.

I planted my daffs in Sept '09 and they were up and flowering a month later (5 months too early)

This spring they'd righted themselves and came up normally

Thanks for the replies. I've just noticed, one of the daffodil varieties, Thalia, has mushy, decomposing stems.

mushy isn't good, compost heap for that one

I had a feeling that'd be the case. Pity, the Thalia were the ones I was looking forward to. Don't know what possessed me to get the tulips, we don't even like them. Half-price bulbs are so tempting.
