Some ideas please :)

Hiya all
I wanted to pick your expert brains regarding wild or cottage flowers and herbs that I can put along the edge/ bank of my allotment. They would need to be quite hardy and not mind being amongst grass. The area is fairly steep for about 2 foot. I have popped some lavender next to the tree (theres an oak tree at the top of the allotment.) plus there are some chives already, and my daughter scattered some nigella seeds, I put some horseradish down at the far end and there are nettles in the centre section. Hoping to get some wild garlic soon too.
Any other suggestions please?

I have grown cornflowers for a while on a corner of my plot. They self seed now and are just coming into flower now having been deep in snow over the winter. Lovely for cutting. Nigella sounds good too but I wouldn't put in wild garlic as it is very invasive. Transfer one bulb into your plot and you've got it for life!

Horseradish will also take over, and is virtually impossible to dig out, as it roots about three feet down!

Could you plant a Rosemary, and a small Bay? Failing that, anything that is attractive, to encourage the bees. Limnanthes douglasii (Poached Egg) is very pretty, as are Nasturtiums, especially the one with variegated leaves, and Aquilegia is a favourite of mine - they are in flower now, so you should be able to buy them potted, instead of seeds. What about Calendula, also Stocks and Nicotiana? The list is endless!

I've already posted about one of my favourites - sweet rocket - here is the thread ... currently growing happily on my lottie and apparently you can eat the flowers!

If there's shade from the oak tree, why not go for woodland flowers. Foxglove is a self seeder, hosta also like shade. Or you could plant sage, rosemary, hyssop if the area get's sun.
