Physalis-when to plant young plants?

Sorry, I am confusing myself a bit here via google and thought I'd ask you guys who know what you are doing .

Is it a good idea to put young physalis plants in now, or would it be better to wait until the spring?

I love physalis but I seem to be the only person alive who kills it. read somewhere that it was as invasive as mint. Hmm, not my experience.

Am I right, Physalis is the proper name for Chinese Lantern? The book I llooked it up in says to plant out in a sunny border in March/April. I've never grown it so can't be more helpful.
