Mystery plants...

Having moved house last Autumn I am enjoying seeing what is coming up in the borders.

Attached are a couple of pics. Do you recognise them? What colours might I expect?

I didn't realise peony disappeared and then came back. Bit blousy for me. Might find itself being donated elsewhere.

Could the first one be daylilies? shades of yellow are the most common.

I'd go for Lily and Peony.
I will guess at yellow and pink....is there a prize for the winner?? ( no idea on the colour actually!)

Can't quite work out the texture of the leaves on the first one but I initially thought possibly tulips, although looking again they could be lillies. No idea on the second although it looks familiar. I deffo don't have any in my garden.

No, not tulips - I think lilies - will keep you all informed.

Reason for getting rid is that I have a very definite planting idea for this bed (surprise, surprise, moi having strong opinions!). I've grought a number of small native species trees with me from previous house - I've grown them all from seed and I love them all deeply. They have all gone in, survived the journey and are budding. They are scots pine, silver birch, rowan, hazel, yew, bird cherry, field maple and syrup maple (OK not so native but in 40 years time......). Cam you imagine a frilly, pretty peony sitting under that lot? Also, I am a man and I like my frilly things elsewhere, not in the garden.

Peonies don't move well usually. Having said that, my pink one was rescued from a tip!

Peonys are easy to move, just remember not to plant them too deep, same as rododendrons
